Once a newborn is discharged to go home, we recommend scheduling their first office visit within 3 to 5 days of birth. During this initial visit, our healthcare provider will conduct a thorough examination, including measurements of weight, length, and head circumference. The provider will also assess the newborn’s vision, hearing, and reflexes, and perform a complete physical exam.
Additionally, the provider will inquire about your well-being and address any concerns you may have regarding the baby’s eating and sleeping habits. The visit will also include a discussion about what to expect in the coming month. For those visiting one of our offices for the first time with their newborn, please bring the hospital discharge paperwork to ensure a smooth and thorough process.
